This is one of the few books (anthology) on Dutch etchers (45 of them) from the "Golden Age" of printmaking. It includes 245 wonderful prints reproduced in full size so the reader may observe fine details lost in other smaller editions. It is a fabulous addition to my art library and is an important resource for those interested in landscape genre, Dutch art and the etching tradition. It includes the work of Rembrandt, van Ruisdael and Hercules Segers whose prints are a revelation. This artist was experimenting with the etching process, the results of which look like twenty-first century landscape art! Published in 1975, this is a rare find. This volume could be paired nicely with Reed's "Italian Etchers of the Renaissance & Baroque".
