Four of the Virginia and Truckee Railroad's locomotives pose in October of 1877 in front of ihe massive carson City enginehouse when wood was still used as fuel and the Comstock's Big Bonanza was placing creased demands on the railroad each day. From left to right are elght-year-old number 4, the Virginia, resting just out of the door of track three; a rare V&T appearance on flilm of two-year-old number iris Truckee, in the foreground; two-year-old Inyo, number 22, is next; then at right the Dayton, number 13, a las four. The latter two have been preserved and both now reside again in Carson City as the property of is.
